Homeowner Efficiency Redo Opportunity (HERO)
This program offers qualifying homeowners a FREE energy review and pays at least 50% of the cost for qualifying installed weatherization and high-efficiency equipment upgrades.

Eligible properties are single-family owner occupied homes in CenterPoint’s service area with incomes that are at or below 80% of the area’s median income, scaled for household size.
Program eligibility requirements:
- Must be a single-family homeowner within CenterPoint Energy’s service area.
- Have a household income at or below 80% of the area’s median income, scaled for household size.
- At least one (1) of the following documents can be used to verify income eligibility*:
- Last three months of pay stubs
- W-2 form from the most recent tax year
- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients – Notice of Decision document
- Women, Infants and Children (WIC) recipients – Participant Summary document
*Alternative eligibility will be considered on a case-by-case basis and in consultation with the Minnesota Department of Commerce.

Saving starts with a free energy review.
If you qualify, a weatherization expert will conduct a FREE energy review of your home and recommend approved upgrades and improvements.
Once approved, CenterPoint Energy will pay at least 50% of the cost of recommended improvements.
As part of the FREE energy review an experienced technician may perform the following services and make recommendations for energy-saving measures to improve your home’s efficiency:
- A detailed attic evaluation
- Assess the building for potential carbon monoxide leaks
- Blower door testing
- Thermal imaging and infrared scanning
These improvements may include:
- Insulating attics and walls
- Repairing or replacing heating systems
- Replacing water heaters
- Sealing air leaks
- And more!

After the FREE energy review, homeowners will work with an energy efficiency expert to choose the recommended measures to install, and CenterPoint will pay at least 50% of the cost of recommended improvements.
